Derek and I decided before we had kids that we would have an actual birthday party for them on the odd birthdays and special days with the family on even birthdays. We started Bostyn's birthday by going to the mall and getting her a new pair of earrings. I had been promising her this for a couple of months and she was so excited to get those new earrings. Then she got a corn dog from 'Hot Dog on a Stick' and rode one of the little car rides in the food court. After that, we made a visit to Grandma and Grandpa Winters. They gave her some cute clothes and a play kitchen with a Disney Princess tea set! I was just as excited as Bostyn for that play kitchen. It takes me back to my own childhood. Back at home, she opened her presents from her Nanny and Papa: a new baby, a Barbie head that you can play with the hair on, a puzzle book and a little purse. We finished the day with singing happy birthday to Bostyn for the gazillionth time and cupcakes. I think she had a great day. She doesn't quite understand the birthday business, but she definitely knew it was a special day.

Bosty girl! Happy birthday! I am so happy she got that kitchen. She always plays with the girls when she is over. After she tucks them in bed she walks over to the kitchen and I have to drag her out of the room! :)

wait, I am totally confused. Shouldnt she be 4 or at least 3? How is she 2? Are you sure? She seems too grown up. Like how did you know she wanted earings? She told you that? I think she is not 2. You are mistaken.
